We’re now building a world-class transport network, a clean green environment to be proud of and an inclusive city that looks after the most vulnerable. Three years ago, I promised to invest in Auckland’s infrastructure. And we have – with a record $26.2 billion going into transport, housing and our environment.
Leading up to the election, I will be releasing more policies.
1. BUILDING AUCKLAND’S HOUSING
House building is at an all-time high. But more needs to be done working with Government to make homes more affordable and allow a new generation to enjoy the Kiwi dream.
2. BUILDING AUCKLAND’S TRANSPORT NETWORK
After years of underinvestment and growing congestion, we’re now investing a record amount into our transport system – meaning more trains, buses, roads, walkways and cycleways.
3. BUILDING ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY
I’m committed to cleaning up our beaches and stopping wastewater overflows into our harbours. I want to leave our children and grandchildren a cleaner environment.
4. BUILDING STRONGER COMMUNITIES
We’re creating new public open spaces and community facilities and transforming our city and town centres into great places for people and communities.
5. BUILDING AUCKLAND’S FUTURE
I promised to keep rates under control with an average increase of 2.5% - lower than any other city in New Zealand. We’ve done that by saving hundreds of millions of dollars and pushing value for money and efficiency.
We’ve made good progress but there is more to do.
I’m committed to building a prosperous, inclusive, sustainable and vibrant city. That’s why I’m asking for your support - so that together we can keep building Auckland’s future.
